Term Definition
User The person using Fillet. In the Business Rules, this person is called “Buyer” in Procurement contexts.
Vendor A supplier (no Fillet account needed)
Ingredient Any raw material tracked in Fillet
Price A cost-per-unit for a specific ingredient from a specific vendor
Abstract Unit A custom unit created by you (e.g. “each”, “box”)
Standard Unit A built-in unit (kg, g, L, mL, etc.)
EP (Edible Portion) % of an ingredient usable after prep waste
Density Mass-to-volume ratio — enables unit conversion
Activity A labor task with a cost per hour
Recipe Ingredient An ingredient component within a recipe
Sub-Recipe A recipe used inside another recipe
Recipe Activity A labor task component within a recipe
Menu Item Ingredient An ingredient component within a menu item
Menu Item Recipe A recipe component within a menu item
Menu Item Activity A labor task component within a menu item
Food Cost Total ingredient cost for a recipe or menu item
Labor Cost Total activity cost for a recipe or menu item
Total Cost Food Cost + Labor Cost
Selling Price What the menu item sells for (optional)
Profit Selling Price − Total Cost
Profit Margin Profit ÷ Selling Price
Cost Contribution A single component’s share of a recipe’s or menu item’s cost
Preferred Price A per-recipe override to use a specific price instead of the lowest
Draft PO A PO being written — editable, no PO number
Pending PO A validated, locked PO ready to send
Issued PO A sent PO — permanent record with a PO number
Issue The act of sending a Pending PO (one-time, irreversible)
Line Item A row on a PO: ingredient + quantity + unit + price
Snapshot An immutable copy of PO data taken at conversion to Pending
Public URL A link where vendors can view and respond to an Issued PO
Send History Record of all email send attempts for an Issued PO
Delivery Destination A named delivery address on your account
Group An organizational label (no costing effect)
