Units of Measurement#
There are two types of units in Fillet:

| Standard Units | Built into Fillet. Things like kg, g, L, mL, oz, lb. Cannot be created or deleted. |
| Abstract Units | Created by you. Custom units like “each”, “box”, “bunch”, “case of 24”. |
Abstract units are attached to a specific ingredient or recipe. They can optionally have a mass (grams) or volume (mL) so Fillet can do unit conversions.
When a Recipe is created, Fillet automatically creates an Abstract Unit for it (e.g. “serving”). This is what allows other recipes and menu items to use it as a component — see Recipes for details.
